OUR SERVICES

ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT

Orthodontic treatment, or braces, straightens teeth to improve their appearance and improve the function of the occlusion. It also correct jaw size problems by modifying jaw growth in young children. In addition, Orthodontic treatment is used in conjunction with jaw surgery to correct some form of jaw problems.

Types of Orthodontic Treatment Appliances :

1. Removable appliance

A removable appliance (a plate that can be taken out to be cleaned) are used in interceptive treatment and other minor tooth movements. Interceptive orthodontic treatment is recommended for children, usually for problems that if left untreated, may lead to development of more serious dental problems. The goal is to reduce the severity of a developing problem.

2. Functional appliance

The functional appliance helps the jaws to grow in proportion to each other. Patient’s compliance to wear the appliance as instructed is essential for the appliance to work

3. Fixed appliance

Commonly known as braces. This appliance is bonded onto the teeth surfaces and together with specially bent archwires move and align the teeth to the desired position. There are 2 sub-types of fixed appliances :

(A) The most commonly used is Metal braces, made of high grade stainless steel. Most of the patients like to add different color elastics that can be changed at each appointment to make their braces more fun and interesting.

(B) Ceramic braces are translucent and made of ceramic material. They are popular with adult patients. They cut down the visibility of the braces and is well tolerated by most patients.

4. Invisalign

The Invisalign treatment consists of a series of snap-on, custom fit aligners that apply a controlled amount of force to your teeth, forcing them to shift. This new innovative appliance is developed by Align Technologies. Each tray is designed to pressure specific teeth to move into place, beginning with the back teeth and finishing with the front. Once your treatment is complete, you will likely wear a (clear) retainer to ensure your new smile stays in place.

Treatment is important because crooked or crowded teeth are hard to clean, and may contribute to tooth decay and gum disease. A bad bite can also cause abnormal wear of tooth surfaces, difficulty in chewing and/or speaking, excess stress on supporting bone and gum tissue, and possible jaw joint problems. Without treatment, problems may become worse. Orthodontic treatment to correct a problem may prove less costly than the additional dental care required to treat the problems that can develop in later years.

Then there’s the emotional side of an unattractive smile. When you are not confident in the way you look, your self-esteem suffers. Teenagers whose malocclusions are left untreated may go through life feeling self-conscious, hiding their smiles with tight lips or a protective hand.

DENTAL IMPLANT

Dental implants/Tooth Implants are the single most important advancement in dentistry.

Tooth extraction is quite common due to poor dental health and gum disease. Leaving the missing tooth space empty may not sound too serious, but the consequences of not filling in the space can include:

• Adjacent teeth changing position

• Shrinking of the jawbone, making the face appear prematurely older

• Reduced self-confidence and a less appealing smile

What are dental implants?

Dental Implants are small titanium screws placed in bone to replace the root of a missing tooth. The titanium dental implant becomes integrated with the bone in a process known as osseointegration.

The abutment, and a crown or bridge, restores the missing part of the tooth/teeth above the gum.

The dental implant-supported restoration looks, feels and functions virtually like a real tooth. It is a permanent replacement solution for a missing tooth and can be used to replace dentures anywhere in the mouth. Dental implant supported restorations can truly increase the quality of life and allow you to enjoy food better.

Types of dental implant restorations:

• Crowns

• Bridges

• Dental implant-supported hybrid dentures

• Dental implant-retained bridges

A dental implant should be considered when:

• A tooth is beyond repair and requires an extraction

• Teeth are missing

• The number of teeth is insufficient for a tooth-supported bridge

• Upper and lower jaws are edentulous

• Dentures are loose or uncomfortable

Who is suitable for dental implants?

Basically, if you are healthy enough to have a tooth taken out, you are probably healthy enough to have a dental implant placed.

Patients are usually concerned about being too old for the procedure. There is no maximum age limit to who can receive a dental implant, only a minimum age limit. Patients who are still growing are usually not suitable for dental implant procedure.

VENEERS

Veneers are thin tooth-coloured shells /facings that can be bonded to the front surfaces of natural teeth. In the past, veneers were made from materials such as acrylic and composite resin. Today, most veneers used are made of porcelain. The advantages of using porcelain are the beauty and durability of the material. Porcelain remains attractive for a much longer period of time because it does not stain like composite resin. In addition, gum tissues tolerate porcelain well. A significant number of long-term clinical studies confirm the excellent durability of the porcelain veneer restoration.

Porcelain veneers may be used to improve the colour and correct minor flaws (such as the size, shape and alignment) of individual teeth. When used on multiple front teeth, porcelain veneers can help create a very natural and pleasing smile.

Tooth preparation for a veneer involves the removal of 0.5 to 0.7 mm of enamel from the front surface of the tooth. The enamel is reduced to make room for the veneer. Once reduction is complete, an impression of the prepared tooth is made so that the porcelain veneer can be constructed in the dental laboratory. The procedure of bonding a porcelain veneer to the tooth is simple. The remaining enamel surface of the tooth and the inside portion of the veneer are etched and coated with a resin cement. The veneer is then placed on the tooth. Once placed, the veneer is cured by high-intensity light for a few seconds. The excess cement is removed and the placement procedure is finished.

EMERGENCY DENTISTRY

AESTHETIC DENTISTRY

Aesthetic dentistry (Cosmetic Dentistry) is the integration of three deals – looking good, good health and a healthy, enduring smile. The bonus is that typically you will be looking younger as well.

There are a variety of aesthetic dentistry/cosmetic dentistry treatments which can improve your smile – from replacing old amalgam (silver) fillings with tooth-coloured bonding material, to dental veneers which restore shape and colour to the teeth, or crowns and implants to replace irreparable loss. The important thing is, you do have simple, cost effective aesthetic dentistry/cosmetic dentistry options.

DENTURES

Dentures are artificial teeth that can be removed. Many people who are missing one tooth, several teeth or all their teeth, benefit greatly from denture teeth. Made from the latest polymer resin materials, dentures are very natural looking and they can be matched in color and appearance to your other teeth.

Why do people need dentures?

Without support from teeth and dentures, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. With dentures, you’ll be able to eat and speak – things that people often take for granted until their natural teeth are gone.

Types of dentures

A complete denture is for people who have no teeth in their lower jaw or upper jaw, or both jaws. Complete dentures should be removed and cleaned daily to keep your gums healthy and to allow your tissues to relax.

Partial dentures are for people who have some natural teeth remaining, or who only need to replace a few teeth. The benefits are the same as for full denture wearers: your facial muscles will be supported, your smile improved and your ability to chew and speak will be enhanced. The dentures should be removed and cleaned daily to keep your gums healthy and to allow your tissues to relax

TEETH WHITENING

Teeth whitening is one of the fastest and most conservative ways to brighten up your smile. There are no painful needles or grinding required in teeth whitening procedures. It can be used as a single procedure or in combination with other treatment to achieve the most desirable cosmetic outcome.

Teeth whitening treatment options

In general, there are two treatment options. If you want to get the result fast, you can opt for the in-clinic procedure or “Power Bleaching”. We use state-of-the-art light-activated professional whitening systems where both the whitening formulation and the light source have been tested and licensed for safety and efficacy. However, if you wish to have more control and see how your teeth transform gradually, you can opt for our professionally prescribed and supervised “Home Whitening” system.

Teeth whitening can be fun and easy to use. Before you get started, a thorough consult with our dental team is essential to find out about your exact condition before an appropriate treatment plan can be recommended to you that best suits your needs and expectations.

Your Dream Smile is just a call away!
